Project Business Fundation:Interview with Dr. David Hillson: Managing Project (Business) Risks

Managing Multi-level Risks in Project Business? Ask the #1 Expert

Dr David Hillson is known globally as “The Risk Doctor”. He is recognised as a thought-leader and practical expert in managing risk at multiple levels, including project, business, societal and national.

When projects turn from being internal and cross-functional to cross-corporate project business, new layers of risk are added. At the detailed level, this includes commercial and legal risks, with potential disputes between contractors and customers. More strategically, it’s vital to manage the interfaces and liabilities arising from risk transfer and risk-sharing. Overlaying all levels are the key issues of risk culture, risk efficiency and risk communication.

Dr David Hillson is a household name in risk management in projects. His definition of risk as 'uncertainty that matters' has been accepted by many organizations. Prescriptions handed out by the "Risk Doctor" are assets for organizations that act in a world of ambiguity, opportunities, and threats. David is not only an international thought leader, he is also a great storyteller with a wealth of experience and knowledge. His motto is "Understand profoundly so you can explain simply".

In this interview, we will tap into his ability to entertain, but will also talk about the immanent uncertainties of cross-corporate project business, when commercial and legal risks add to project risks.

Interviewed by Martin Berneburg and Oliver F. Lehmann, we are looking forward to interesting stories that combine insights and entertainment.
