PROJECT MANAGEMENT THESIS OF THE YEAR AWARD 2024
We aim to support young, early-career professionals by launching thesis competitions in project management, contributing to their professional development. The Award aims to provide and support the project management profession with new talent, while at the same time it is an important objective of PMI Hungary to further develop the project management culture.
THE AIM OF THE APPLICATION
Through theses on project management
- to introduce young professionals and their work to the project management profession
- to promote the career development of young professionals
- to provide a supply of new talent for the project management profession
developing a project management culture
PROMOTER AND DONOR OF THE AWARD
The competition is organised by PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter of the Project Management Institute.

WHY APPLY?
Winner of the Project Management Thesis of the Year competition:Winner of the Project Management Thesis of the Year Award, recognised by the project management profession, will receive the award at a ceremony at the annual English-language Art of Projects conference of PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter, free participation in the Art of Projects conference of PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter, and a presentation on the PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter website.
The authors of the first three best papers in each category will receive, in addition to a certificate of appreciation from the Editors, a choice of a book published by pmi.org. The prize for the consultant of the first three winners: a textbook published by pmi.org of their choice. The opportunity to be published on the PMI Budapest website with a short (approximately 2 pages) professional article describing the entry. The opportunity to be published in a publication of the thesis by writing a 15-20 page abstract of the thesis. Publication of the thesis to the project management community on the PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter website.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, you need to submit the following documents:
- a document equivalent to a thesis or dissertation in PDF format;
- a one-page abstract of the thesis or dissertation (if the thesis or dissertation does not contain such an abstract);
- a completed application form;
- optionally, a recommendation from the supervisor or the referees.

EVALUATION OF THE APPLICATION, EVALUATION CRITERIA
The evaluation is carried out separately for Ba/BSc and Ma/MSc and postgraduate categories. The theses will be judged by the PMI Budapest, Hungarian Section, under the leadership of the President delegated by the PMI Budapest, Hungarian Section, and by academics and business professionals, in accordance with the following criteria:
- the degree of relevance of project management
- the relevance of the project's relevance in terms of
- the relevance of the project's relevance to the field of project management
- data collection, analysis, conclusions and recommendations
structure and form
PUBLICATION OF RESULTS
The results will be announced at the Art of Projects conference at the PMI Budapest, Hungarian Chapter on 09.11.2023 in the presence of the project management community.
The winning paper will be submitted to the "R. Snyder International Student Paper of the Year Award" competition.
