RMC’s Project Management Knowledge and Skills Series

Breaking Down the PMP ECO Domains

Really?  Do we need constraints on Agile projects? Projects by nature are temporary and they should deliver value. If cost and schedule constraints are not provided by the sponsor, the project leader and the team still must verify they have reconciled the need, solution, and outcomes to deliver appropriate value. So how can we establish agile project constraints and make them meaningful?

Organizations can choose how important it is to manage cost and schedule for projects. And yes, a sponsor can say "We just need it done, and we will use agile to accomplish it." But do they really intend for you to have a blank check and unlimited schedule to deliver benefits and value? More than one agile project leader has made the mistake of accepting this lack of constraints as permission, only to find later they were not supported when leadership asked when the benefits would be delivered, how much this has cost, or when this will end.

In this webinar of our long running and helpful ECO series, we will examine the benefits of establishing constraints for schedule and cost, checking that they are realistic, and analyzing throughout the project to make sure that the organization receives benefits and value from the project.

All business analysts, project, program and portfolio managers can benefit from enhancing their skills in these areas.
